Looking after your skin starts with a balanced, nutritious diet. We are passionate about delicious and nutritious ingredients that you can incorporate into your meals as well as your skincare.
Every month we will be focusing on a superfood or key ingredient that can benefit our mind, body and skin. As it is the first Beauty: Inside + Out feature we have chosen one of our favourite superfoods: the humble AVOCADO
The Benefits:
  • Contains Sterolin: a steroid that hydrates + softens the skin
  • Reduces age spots and pigmentation
  • Rich source of Lecithin which increases the absorption ability of other ingredients.
  • Increases elasticity in the skin.
BEAUTY OUTSIDE
The avocado can be use in a variety of ways in skincare. You can mash up the flesh and add it to your favourite powdered face mask. Avocado oil can also be found in our moisturising face oils: Goji and Argan. The oil helps provide cell regeneration and contains provitamin B5 which has fantastic healing qualities.
BEAUTY INSIDE
The avocado contains more potassium than bananas. Why is potassium so important? This nutrient helps reduce high blood pressure, a major risk factor for heart attacks, strokes and kidney failure. Avocado is known to be very calorific as it is one of the fattiest fruits on the planet. However, the majority of the fat contained in avocados is oleic acid, a monounsaturated acid that keeps the heart healthy and has beneficial effects on genes linked to cancer.
Avocados tend to be high in fibre, about 7% by weight, which is very high compared to most other foods. Fibre can have various important benefits for weight loss and metabolic health.
Avocados are high in antioxidants, including Lutein and Zeaxanthin. These nutrients are very important for eye health and lower the risk of macular degeneration and cataracts.
The list of benefits goes on - this fruit is mighty powerful!
So to incorporate this super duper superfood into our diets we thought we'd try these delicious recipes out!
Enjoy this delicious fruit and try and incorporate more of this green powerhouse in your diet and on your skin this winter.
